Why play lacrosse?

FAST FEET. SHARP MINDS. STRONG TEAMS.

Lacrosse blends constant movement, quick passing, creative offense and team defense. Players stay involved, learn to make decisions under pressure and discover a game that rewards effort as much as experience.

01

SKILL

Throwing, catching, scooping and shooting build coordination one rep at a time.

02

TEAMWORK

Every possession depends on communication, movement and trusting the next teammate.

03

CONFIDENCE

Small wins become bigger ones as players try, adjust and see their game grow.

04

DECISIONS

A quick game teaches players to scan the field, solve problems and respond.

One sport. Different ways to play.

MEET THE GAME.

Lacrosse changes shape depending on the space, rules and number of players. The common thread is simple: use the stick, move the ball and work together to create a shot.

BEGINNER FORMAT

HACKEE PLAY

Padded sticks and soft balls create a welcoming way to learn the basics without full equipment.

OUTDOOR

FIELD

More space highlights speed, passing, transition play and team shape on both ends.

INDOOR

BOX

A smaller playing area creates quick touches, tighter passing lanes and fast decisions.

SMALL-SIDED

SIXES

Six-player teams and constant transition make this version energetic and easy to follow.

New to the sport?

START SIMPLE. LEARN BY PLAYING.

You do not need to know every rule or buy every piece of equipment before your child tries lacrosse. Begin with the right local entry point, then grow from there.

1

Choose the right first experience

Intro clinics and Hackee play focus on fun, movement and basic stick skills.

2

Check before buying equipment

Gear requirements change by format and program. Your organizer will tell you exactly what is needed.

3

Bring energy—not experience

New players are welcome. Coaches build skills through clear instruction and lots of touches.

4

Pick the next step together

After the first experience, families can explore local leagues, clinics and club opportunities.

Local pathways

THERE IS A PLACE TO BEGIN.

Whether your player is holding a stick for the first time or ready for more competition, Union County has ways to learn, connect and keep growing.
